چکیده
The present paper investigates penetrative convection in a bi-disperse porous medium. In particular, is modeled via quadratic dependence on the temperature for fluid density. For problem under examination, can occur only through secondary stationary motion since validity of principle exchange stabilities proved. Via linear instability analysis conduction solution, critical Rayleigh number onset determined. Moreover, nonlinear stability investigated weighted energy method. order to analyze behavior and thresholds, numerical simulations are performed Chebyshev- τ $$ \tau method, proving stabilizing effect upper boundary layer convective motion.

Penetrative convection and multi-component diffusion in a porous medium
Linear instability and nonlinear energy stability analyses are developed for the problem of a fluid-saturated porous layer stratified by penetrative thermal convection and two salt concentrations. Unusual neutral curves are obtained, in particular non-perfect ‘heartshaped’ oscillatory curves that are disconnected from the stationary neutral curve. These curves show that three critical values of...
متن کاملMixed Convection Heat Transfer from a Vertical Plate Embedded in a Bidisperse Porous Medium
This work studies the mixed convection heat transfer from a vertical plate in bidisperse porous media with constant wall temperature. The two-velocity two-temperature model is used to derive the governing equations. The effects of the mixed convection parameter, the inter-phase heat transfer parameter, the modified thermal conductivity ratio, and the permeability ratio on the heat transfer and ...
متن کاملThermosolutal Convection of Micropolar Rotating Fluids Saturating a Porous Medium
Double-diffusive convection in a micropolar fluid layer heated and soluted from below in the presence of uniform rotation saturating a porous medium is theoretically investigated. An exact solution is obtained for a flat fluid layer contained between two free boundaries. To study the onset of convection, a linear stability analysis theory and normal mode analysis method have been used. For the ...
متن کاملUnsteady Free Convection from a Sphere in a Porous Medium with Variable Surface Temperature
In this paper a transient free convection flow around a sphere with variable surface temperature and embedded in a porous medium has been considered. The temperature of the sphere is suddenly raised and subsequently maintained at values that varies with position on surface. The method of asymptotic expansions is applied for small Rayleigh numbers and then a finite-difference scheme is used to s...
